Good afternoon. I hope everyone enjoyed Memorial Day Weekend. Thanks to all that have served our country and sacrificed the most for us.
I apologize for no update last week. I was in Washington, DC meeting with Senators Scott & Graham on behalf of the engineering community. We spoke about increasing the workforce of the engineering industry, a PPP/FAR Credits Clause Fix, WRDA, and other things.
According to the ACEC Research Institute, between people retiring, people leaving the industry, and sheer demand, the US will need close to 82,000 more engineers in the near future. When speaking to Senators Scott and Graham’s staff, we asked them to support H.4521 COMPETES Act/ S.1260 USICA, both of which invest in STEM Education. We also asked them to lift the cap on H-1B Visas, so we can take advantage of people who have been educated in the US but cannot stay after they finish school.
