Good morning. I hope all who celebrated Easter had a wonderful day and were able to enjoy it with your loved ones. Since many of you may be on Spring Break, I’ll try to keep it short today.
As I have for a year now, I’ll start with a snapshot of where we are in the pandemic. South Carolina is still showing a low percentage of positive tests (4.4% as of Monday afternoon). We’ve seen a total of 467,750 cases in South Carolina and 8,111 have passed away due to complications from the Coronavirus. Nationally, the US has seen 30,532,865 cases and 554,064 people have died. With vaccines now available for anyone over 16 years of age in South Carolina, we hope to reach herd immunity by the end of the summer.
