Good afternoon. I hope you have all had a productive week. It was definitely a great week for South Carolina and especially for our members that are Clemson football fans. I’m sure Tuesday morning came early to many of you with the game going into the early morning. 2019 is in full swing.
As you know our legislators returned to Columbia Tuesday. Much like the first week of school when you were young, the first week at the legislature is full of smiles, catching up, and formalities. The first order of business for the SC Senate was a rules change. Since the Lieutenant Governor ran on the same ticket, the Lieutenant Governor can no longer preside over the Senate. The Senate elected Senator Harvey Peeler as the first ever President of the Senate as its first order of business on Tuesday. Peeler had to relinquish his chairmanship of the Medical Affairs committee in order to take on this roll. Congratulations to Senator Peeler.
