2013 SCSPE Young Engineer of the Year

The South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers 2013 Young Engineer of the Year is V. Spring McEwen of Taylors, SC.

McEwen currently is Lead Design Engineer with Metromont Corp., which focus’s on precast concrete structures. McEwen leads design teams and manages in-house and out-of house projects for Metromont Corp.

Since being there, McEwen has been involved in numerous multi-million dollar projects such as Morehead Medical Parking Deck Expansion, Cardinal Data Center, Project Dolphin Data Center, and Mallard Creek High School.

McEwen is a member of the SCSPE Piedmont Chapter where she presently is Treasurer.

McEwen is active in her community; she is a volunteer with Discover E as a Volunteer Speaker and Co-Coordinator for the program. Also, McEwen is a volunteer for MathCounts.

MathCounts is an organization that hopes to provide fun and challenging math programs for US middle school students to increase their academic and professional opportunities.

Discover E is a program dedicated to helping grade school and high school students discover the exciting worlds of engineering and technology.
She is a Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN graduate. Where she earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering in 2004 graduating Magna Cum Laude.
