SCSPE President’s Report
South Carolina Society of Professional Engineers is off to a productive 2015, and with your support we will have a great year.

SCSPE President
George McCall, PE |
SCSPE, along with ACEC-SC, AIA-SC, ASCE/SC Section, and Carolinas AGC hosted a very successful Legislative Reception last month. SCSPE members were able to speak face to face with their legislators and let them know what the engineering community is considering this session. We moved the reception to the Palmetto Club this year, and what a difference it made.
SCSPE is co-hosting the ACEC-SC/SCSPE Winter Meeting later this month. This is a great opportunity for you to get some PDHs. Sign up a new member and you can even come free. This meeting is divided into two tracks, a business track and an environmental track.
As you probably know, Chapter MathCounts competitions are underway across the state. Chapters always need volunteers, so check with your chapter president and see if they need any help. We’ll be announcing the State MathCounts competition very soon. Past President and MathCounts Coordinator Marguerite McClam can always use volunteers on the state level as well.
In other SCSPE news, we are currently nailing down the details for our spring Disaster Preparedness Seminar. This is a great seminar where you can get your California Emergency Management Association certification so you can help evaluate buildings after a disaster.
In closing, Chapters do not let the deadline of March 31, 2015 for Engineer of the Year and Young Engineer of the Year nominations slip on. Each chapter has exceptional engineers, and they deserve to be recognized.
As you can see we have a busy rest of the year ahead of us. Please get involved. |
