Annual Report
June 13, 2013

The SCSPE Educational Foundation was able to meet its primary obligations during the 2011 – 2012 fiscal year:

  • Two $1,000 scholarships were awarded to rising juniors/seniors in qualifying undergraduate engineering studies in South Carolina. The scholarships are going to: Joseph Rooney who has a GPA of 3.21 at the University of South Carolina (Mechanical Engineering) and Patrick Timothy Rogers who has a GPA of 3.964 at The Honors College, University of South Carolina (Mechanical Engineering).
  • The Foundation provided financial support to State MathCounts and to the South Carolina team at the National Competition where the South Carolina team did its best ever placing 16th in the nation and SC  Mathlete Guanpeng “Andy” Xu placing 3rd overall in the written portion. The exact amount will be determined, upon receipt of all associated income and expenses. As always, Marguerite McClam did an outstanding job at the State and National competitions. The Board of Trustees extends its most sincere Thanks! to Marguerite and to all those who volunteered and helped sponsor 2013 MathCounts.

The SCSPE Educational Foundation Board of Trustees agreed to launch a Membership Campaign to raise funds in the fall of 2013. Letters will be sent to over 400 SCSPE members followed by two email requests for memberships.

As of June 6, 201, the SCSPE Educational Foundation Balance Sheet recorded Total Current Assets of $86,521.34 and Total Current Liabilities of $4,686.11, resulting in a Total Equity of $81,835.23.

Thanks to Mike Boland, Gary Dorfler, Josh Fowler, Frank Iwanicki, Marshall Norris, Bill Smith, and Alan Thomas for representing their respective SCSPE Chapters on the 2013 – 2014 SCSPE Educational Foundation Board of Trustees.

Respectfully Submitted,
